DEFAULT hailed from Peterborough and featured ex members of DESECRATORS. Their solitary 7” EP released in 1987 “Inspiration” is widely regarded as a UK Hardcore classic, and was the first release on the First Strike label (who later released JAILCELL RECIPES and DRIVE). When vocalist Loyd left, DEFAULT ceased to be in 1989, and the remaining members recruited bassist Stuart West and changed their name to MONKS OF SCIENCE, under which they recorded and released an album “I’m A Doctor Not An Escalator” for In Your Face Records in 1990. This 28 track compilation reissue compiles all the studio recordings of both DEFAULT and MONKS OF SCIENCE, and is digitally re-mastered – all tracks have never been available on CD, with a further 12 previously unavailable commercially – including the MONKS OF SCIENCE final studio recordings from 1992, and the DEFAULT “Faith Or Fraud” demo from 1987. Featuring liner notes from the band as well as many unseen photos and memorabilia, including a full gig listing for both bands, this is a must have collection for fans of UK Hardcore. The band can currently be found playing in PSYCHO BOMBS, with the exception of bassist Stuart West, who currently plays bass in THE DAMNED.
